Kabir, Ameek, Deep bag CS double crowns

Odisha duo Kabir Hans, Ameek Kiran Batth and Madhya Pradesh lad Deep Munim bagge a double each by winning both singles and doubles titles in different age groups of the AITA-OTA U-14 & U-16 Championship Series (CS) Tennis Tournament, which was organised by Odisha Tennis Association here at Kalinga Stadium Tennis Complex from September 4 to 8, 2017.

Local favourite and top seed Kabir captured the two in under-16 boys’ events with statemate Pratyush Mohanty as his doubles partner. Bhubaneswar lass secured the two crowns in under-16 age category with Ananya Yadav of West Bengal being her doubles partner.

Indore boy Deep emerged champion in under-14 group with Arunava Majumdar of West Bengal being his partner in the doubles event. The singles title in under-14 girls’ event was pocketed by Paavanii Paathak of Maharashtra. A total of 130 players from  Jarkhand, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Karnataka, Tamilnadu, Telangana, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chhatishgarh and host Odisha participated in the tournament.

U-14 Boys’ singles:
Deep Munim (MP *3) beat Heerak S Vora (Gujarat *2) 6-3, 6-2.
U-14 Girls’ singles: Paavanii Paathak (Maharashtra *5) Sai Rajesh Bhoyar (Maharashtra *4) 6-1, 6-1.
U-16 Boys’ singles: Kahir Hans (Odisha *1) beat Deep Munim (MP) 6-2, 6-1.
U-16 Girls’ singles: Ameek Kiran Batth (Odisha *1) beat Paavanii Paathak (Maharashtra *7) 6-2, 6-2.
U-14 Boys’doubles: Deep Munim-Arunava Majumdar (MP-WB *1) beat Md Arib Afzal-Rahul Ravi (WB-Mah *2) 6-4, 7-6 (7-5).
U-16 Boys’doubles: Kabir Hans-Pratyush Mohanty (Odisha *1) beat Amrutjay Mohanty-Abhishek Mohapatra (Odisha *3) 6-3, 5-7, 10-7.
U-16 Girls’ singles: Ameek Kiran Batth-Ananya Yadav (Odi-WB *1) beat Shatavisa Ghosh-Sai Rajesh Bhoyar (WB-Mah *2) walk-over.
